Work will including clearing flood debris from the trail system, repairing trail tread, reinstalling benches, boardwalks and signs. General landscaping work around the visitor center may be done on fencing, drip systems, vegetation and drainage.
April 2, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Sierra Canyon Trailhead
Work will involve clearing any rocks that have fallen on the trail this winter as we hike along the Genoa Loop.
Bring lunch and water. Wear work gloves, good hiking shoes, sunglasses, long-sleeved shirt and pants. Tools and hard hats are provided.
April 12, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Genoa Canyon Trailhead
We'll build a rock crossing across the creek in lower Genoa Canyon. 5 minute walk to project.
Wear warm clothing, sunglasses and work gloves. Bring waders or muck boots if you like.
We'll be done by early afternoon.
April 15, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Meet at Eagle Ridge Trailhead 8am
We'll work on five main projects in Sierra Canyon: 1) Build a high water flow rock crossing for hikers over the upper Sierra Canyon Creek crossing on Genoa Loop and 2) Build a rock causeway before this crossing over a short muddy, spring area; 3) Rock fill a low wet trail section on the Sierra Canyon Trail about three miles above the Sierra Canyon Trailhead and 4) Reinstall a section of base matting on a switchback also about three miles above the Sierra Canyon Trailhead; 5) Continue clearing any cones, twigs, rocks and removing fallen trees up the Sierra Canyon Trail to current snowline around 7,000 ft.
Work is 3 miles above Eagle Ridge TH. Bring lunch and water. Wear hiking shoes, sunglasses, long sleeved shirt/pants, and work gloves. Tools and hard hats are provided.
