Interested in finding out how to support our local trails? We will be at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center tomorrow between 3:30 and 6:00 pm. Stop by and say hello. Not all of our volunteer opportunities involve the hard labor of trail building. We need folks who can help with a wide variety of tasks that keep an all-volunteer organization going. Hope to see you on Tuesday, October 12th. ... See MoreSee Less

As a simple reminder.PLEASE stay out of the forest. We just had a discouraging call with the Forest Service fire crews as it sounds like there have been a number of bikers getting up into the burn areas trying to check out trail conditions. They've had to pull firefighters off the line to try and help law enforcement find these folks. This is still an active fire and huge safety issues arise from the hazards of an active fire and dangerous conditions from falling trees and hazards.🌲 Spread the word. We do not need additional delays in restoration of the trails and forest. 🙏#tambatahoe #caldorfire #tahoemtb #tahoetrails #rebiuld #buildriderespectAll burn photos have been courtesy of fire fighting professionals. ... Reposted from @nevada_magazine Video of the day: We got up at 5:30 a.m. to take a sunrise walk at the River Fork Ranch Nature Conservancy in Minden, yesterday morning. What a gorgeous place. I have a thing for hummingbirds, so I had to try to get this little guy on video. In the background, you hear the call of sandhill cranes. As we walked, we watched the cranes dance, and also got to witness a calf's first steps. So grateful to live in a place where we can spend a morning experiencing something like this. Photo of the day: It's not just people, dogs, bicyclists, horse-riders, and mules sharing the trails here in Nevada. While hiking the Pinyon Trail in Gardnerville one day, we got a surprise! He was super friendly, and lost interest in us as soon as he realized we were not packing any pony treats.
